- Musical Director, Stephen Bruton, invited Lisa to play two new songs at THE ROAD TO AUSTIN concert featuring Kris Kristofferson, Bonnie Raitt, Delbert McClinton, Joe Ely etc. Joe Gross from the Austin American-Statesman said of her performance, "Rising Americana star Lisa Hayes asked the crowd if they were ready for some (expletive) kicking music before providing just that..."

- Billy Block flew in from Nashville to lay down some perfect drum tracks with a new addition to the local Austin music scene, bass player Jamison Toomey. Michael Thompson flew in from Los Angeles in between Don Henley dates to lay down: dobro, banjo, organ, slide guitar & accordion. (I never thought I'd say this but the man played a "kickass accordion lead" on "Fierce Love". I have wanted to work with this woman every since I opened for Redd Volkaert and she was sitting in so I am pleased to say the talented Cindy Cashdollar will be playing steel guitar next weekend (I cannot wait!) and Sean Orr will be dropping by to add some fiddle. But first the gifted New West recording artist Stephen Bruton will be laying down lead guitar on the title track "Somewhere Deep In Texas" and has graciously offered to play on whatever else I want. (I'm trying to keep the list down 'cause he's also bringing his mandolin.) I'll start doing vocals at my home studio the last week of February (and replaying any of my guitar tracks that need a little tweakin') and then Chet will start mixing. I couldn't be happier with the recording so far and am thankful for all the great musicians who have and are offering their help. Stay tuned!
- Its studio time! Well, I've written and demoed the new CD so it's time to get behind the Producer's chair and have some fun. The great Chet Himes has offered to engineer so there are already "no worries".
